::EX-LOG:: REMANUFACTURE ME by HOSTILE ARCHITECT

On my first try, it was a little difficult to find information about HOSTILE ARCHITECT. What I was able to find out was that the project is based in Brisbane, Australia and the brains behind it is Mitch Kenny, AKA Abelisk.

::EX-LOG:: REMANUFACTURE ME is a six-song EP that touches a lot of my personal influences: Track 1, REMANUFACTURE ME, makes me think of early Pop Will Eat Itself, with it’s aggressive beat and abrupt gear changes. The song seems like it’s broken up into movements, each section telling its own story. At other times, the songs seem to borrow from The Prodigy‘s playbook with its abrasive synths hooks.

While the lyrics are a bit oblique at times, the vocals are delivered with such attitude that it sells.

THE SKYS ON FIRE
THE SKYS ON FIRE
THE SKYS ON FIRE AND SO AM I

from BLACK SUMMER

Track 6, HOSTILE THEME (NYTESHAYDE RMX) crosses over into rhythmic noise with a cyberpunk edginess to it.

While the sounds on ::EX-LOG:: REMANUFACTURE ME are comfortably familiar, HOSTILE ARCHITECT does a good job of not slipping into cliché. It’s definitely worth a listen.
