So the story goes like this…
“Jon Drukman (Bass Kittens) and Tim Soete (The Fucking Champs) were working together at GameSpot in the late 90s. They discovered a shared love of jungle and drum and bass music. Tim laid down some sick drum beats which Jon then took into the studio and processed through an arsenal of gear.”
Straightforward enough, right?
What wasn’t mentioned is that Infinite Hand did their thing back in 1997. It’s only been recently that these recordings have been available digitally.
These five tracks came from the heyday of Drum-and-Bass, and as such, have the quintessential D-n-B sound. But beyond abstract, bombastic drum patterns that will shake the fillings out of your teeth, there’s attention to other aspects as well.
The synth parts and samples are simplistic, minimal, and repetitive in a way that provides a rhythmic anchor to the percussive madness and adds a creepy tone to a style that isn’t as well-known for its dark side as it should be.
Sounds range from the tribal to brutal industrial on this five-song EP and should satisfy tastes for those who prefer their some darkness to their beats.
