Video Premier : LOVETH BESAMOH “Inside” [Single] (Inner Basement)

Rotterdam, NL — Cameroonian-born producer and songwriter LOVETH BESAMOH opens a new chapter with “Inside”, the first single from his upcoming EP Riverbed. Out July 18 via Inner Basement, the track is a swirling, emotional entry point into a record that explores longing, emotional distance, and the desire to be seen.

Written and produced by Loveth and recorded with his live band, “Inside” blends hazy guitars, detuned synths, and submerged vocals into a dreamlike soundscape. The lyrics “Let me inside / I’ll break again in your display” cut through the fog with disarming honesty.

Really cool live video the song is an emotive blend of brooding post punk and psychedelic Velvet Underground vibes. Deep rich baritone vocals and delicate brush stroke percussion lead into a 2 minute explosion. I really like how the video leads into a live performance. The intensity level really lends well to organic live chaos.

We are extremely excited to premier the newest video from electro sass artist Apology Kink. This project is the collaboration of Augustus Watkins and Garrett Neal. The song and video transport me back to a pure desire to be adored. Dancing free from insecurity to Yaz “Upstairs at Erics” with an innocent abandon. Leaning hard into the pop aspects of synthpop with a self-aware snark that boroughs into the ear to let the lyrics shine. Available on GIVE/TAKE Records where Augustus is part owner this single marks another high energy synth explosion.

Apology Kink exudes sultry, cheeky charm. The LA-based project turns out captivating dark synthpop where goth allure flirts with anthemic dance floor-ready production, as pop charm looks on in seductive approval. Dripping with vintage synth production and adorned with modern hooks, Apology Kink is the brainchild of musician Augustus Watkins, building on his pedigree as a singer-songwriter (Bijou Noir), producer (Tulip Tiger), and darkscene emissary (DEATHDANCE) while folding in shadowy theatricality and iconoclastic queerness.

In February 2024, Apology Kink debuted with a rendition of “West End Girls,” which Sounds and Shadows called a “glitchy synth sass take on the iconic Pet Shop Boys hit.” For his two first original songs, “Cult of Your Touch” and “Let Me Be Your Heartthrob,” Watkins has teamed up with frequent collaborator Garrett Neal (Usonia, Holidae, Netflix, HBO).

The sound and video are a creeping unrelenting strength of movement and woven textures. A motion horror video game of strange lights and symbols tingling on the back of your spine. Kimberly’s emotive vocals sound like a lost record played on a haunted phonograph. Otherworldly and lost in time. They speak a warning to anyone that would dare stumble into her realm. The build and fall of measured electronic background against waving arms and murky waters. With sizzling will o wisp guitar leads lighting the way on this desolate journey. Assemblage 23 has been owning dancefloors for many years, they know just how to stir the pot of this heady brew. I look forward to the whole EP and future of Sys Machine.

When I ranked Black Angel “Kiss of Death” in the top 5 goth albums of 2020 it was largely due to their ability to bring back something to gothic music I feared lost forever. Adrenalin fueled hard rock. These are deep rich tones and sexy shadowy gothic concepts. With early Mission semi truck baselines and buzz saw guitar work cutting through your conciseness. The video is a beautiful high production old school MTV cinematic affair. True LA glamor style done with a London posh darkness.
